Curvature in Synthetic Differential Geometry of Groupoids
We study the fundamental properties of curvature in groupoids within the framework of synthetic differential geometry. As is usual in synthetic differential geometry, its combinatorial nature is emphasized. In particular, the classical Bianchi identity is deduced from its combinatorial one.
متن کاملHolonomicity in Synthetic Differential Geometry of Jet Bundles
In the repetitive approach to the theory of jet bundles there are three methods of repetition, which yield non-holonomic, semi-holonomic, and holonomic jet bundles respectively. However the classical approach to holonomic jet bundles failed to be truly repetitive, for it must resort to such a non-repetitive coordinatedependent construction as Taylor expansion. The principal objective in this pa...
متن کاملHigher-Order Preconnections in Synthetic Differential Geometry of Jet Bundles
In our previous papers (Nishimura [2001 and 2003]) we dealt with jet bundles from a synthetic perch by regarding a 1-jet as something like a pinpointed (nonlinear) connection (called a preconnection) and then looking on higherorder jets as repeated 1-jets. In this paper we generalize our notion of preconnection to higher orders, which enables us to develop a non-repetitive but still synthetic a...
متن کاملThe Frölicher-Nijenhuis Calculus in Synthetic Differential Geometry
Just as the Jacobi identity of vector fields is a natural consequence of the general Jacobi identity of microcubes in synthetic differential geometry, it is to be shown in this paper that the graded Jacobi identity of the Frölicher-Nijenhuis bracket is also a natural consequence of the general Jacobi identity of microcubes.
متن کاملFluid lipid membranes: from differential geometry to curvature stresses.
A fluid lipid membrane transmits stresses and torques that are fully determined by its geometry. They can be described by a stress- and torque-tensor, respectively, which yield the force or torque per length through any curve drawn on the membrane's surface. In the absence of external forces or torques the surface divergence of these tensors vanishes, revealing them as conserved quantities of t...
